Recognition

SCAPA Drama Students Take the Stage! (10-16-06)
Congratulations to Morgan Persley (SCAPA Theatre alum) and Eli Burdette (current 6th grade Drama major). They were both cast in Lorraine Hansberry’s award-winning play, A Raisin in the Sun. Morgan will be portraying Beneatha Younger and Eli was cast as her 11 yr. old brother, Travis. The show is produced by the Dept. of Theatre at UK and directed by Prof. Herman D. Farrell III.
Performance dates are November 30, December 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 @ 7:30pm and December 10 @ 2pm

Honors

Cricket Magazine Literary Contest (10/23/06)

Janie Poulton placed third and her entry will appear in the December issue of Cricket. Aidan Ziliak won an honorable mention and his entry will appear on the Cricket Web site.

Young Achiever (9/1/06)

SCAPA Bluegrass sixth-grader Chloe McIntosh was named a 2006 Young Achiever by the International Leadership Network. The Young Achievers program helps develop and implement programs that empower young people to succeed. Chloe is on of only 135 students nationwide chosen for this honor.

Awards

Lafayette High School Speech Team (9/1/06)

Lafayette High School Speech Team members David Jackson and Mat Leonard placed in the top 48 in the nation in the duo interpretation category at the CFL Speech Grand Nationals in Chicago in May. Recent Lafayette graduate Lauren Fibel finished in the top 12 after advancing to the semi-finals in original oratory.
